1961 Fender Stratocaster, Red
It was Mark's main guitar (serial number 80470) from 1977 till 1979. The neck was replaced with the Schecter neck. The guitar was used on the Dire Straits (1978) and Communique (1979) albums.
1961 Fender Stratocaster, Red
The guitar (serial number 68354) had a 'natural wood' finish but was repainted in red. It is second Stratocaster used from 1977 till 1980. Mark still has this guitar and used it on What It Is in 2001. The guitar was a basis for Fender Mark Knopfler signature model.
1954 Fender Stratocaster, Sunburst
It is very rare 'Jurassic Stratocaster' (serial number 059) was given to Mark by his friend Paul Kennerley.
The guitar was used on You Don't Know You're Born (2002), Everybody Pays, Summer Of Love, Shangri-La (2004), The Car Was The One, Remembrance Day (2009).
1965 Fender Stratocaster Pre CBS, Olympic White
Mark bought this guitar in 1999*. The guitar was used on Sailing To Philadelphia on the Sailing To Philadelphia album. Also the guitar was used in the promo concerts in 2000 and 2002.

2003 Fender Mark Knopfler Stratocaster
This Stratocaster Mark Knopfler Signature model was first introduced in July of 2003 and is made to the specs used by Mark. This guitar has many vintage Strat features like the lightweight ash body and vintage tinted 1962 āCā-shape neck profile.
First the guitar was used by Richard Bennett on Boom Like That and Sucker Row in 2004. Mark used it on We Can Get Wild, Punish the Monkey, Let it All Go, The Fish and the Bird in 2007.
