National Style O
1937 National Style O-14 Fret
It is a legendary guitar from the front of the Brothers In Arms album cover artwork. Mark bought it from Steve Phillips. This National (serial number B1844) is a '1937 model and was made on 1937 or 1938.
It features single cone resonator, nickel plated body with sand blasted Hawaiian scene on back and palm trees on front and solid area on sides, round shoulder, upper F-holes, round neck, dot inlay fingerboard, bound ebony fingerboard.
It can be heard on every Mark's album: Water Of Love (Dire Straits 1978), Portobello Belle (Communique 1979), Romeo & Juliet (Making Movies 1980), Telegraph Road (Love Over Gold 1982), The Man`s Too Strong (Brothers In Arms 1985), When It Comes To You (On Every Street 1991), No Can Do, Done With Bonaparte (Golden Heart 1996).
2006 National Style O-14 Fret
Responding to many years of requests, National re-introduced the 14-fret Style O in 2006. The guitar is based on the 1937 model specifications.
Used in the tours from 2006 as a duplicate guitar for the original National Style O.
