Sunday For Sammy on DVD
March 3rd, 2010
The fifth in a series of bi-annual sell out shows, Sunday for Sammy 2010 attracted an all-star line up including Kevin Whatley, Timothy Spall, Christopher Fairbank, Denise Welch, Brendan Healy, Ray Jackson, Billy Mitchell, Andrea McLean, Kevin Kennedy, Gaynor Faye, Angela Lonsdale and Kathryn Tickell.
Performing two shows featuring music, stand-up comedy and sketches, the concert celebrated northern wit and everything Geordie.
The audience was delighted by a surprise appearance by Geordie legend Mark Knopfler who said “It’s a delight to be part of such a wonderful event – made special because it’s part of coming home”.
The show was filmed and the SFS team work on the DVD is expected to be released within the next 6-8 weeks.

Alchemy Live – 20th Anniversary Edition

Referring to Universal Music Dire Straits – Alchemy Live 20th Anniversary Edition is scheduled for release on May 03, 2010. The re-release will include 3 versions: standard, deluxe 2 disc and Blu-Ray. Please note that the release date is not confirmed by official Mark Knopfler management yet.
96-ers’ solo work

Richard Bennett released his third solo album Valley of the Sun. Guy Fletcher’s new album will be called Natural Selection. The scheduled release date is 15th March 2010.

A BURST of Local Heroism brought the house down at Newcastle City Hall last night as the Sunday For Sammy concerts thrilled a pair of sell out crowds - Journal Live website.

A new John Allen digital single ‘When The Morning Comes’ will be released on February 15. The single will include the track ‘Sarah’ featuring Mark Knopfler. The track was recorded for The Bablake Sessions album in 2007.
New Dire Straits vinyl reissues

As you know Warner Bros. re-released a debut Dire Straits album on 180 gram audiophile quality vinyl. The new reissues mastered by Bernie Grundman from the original analogue tapes and pressed on 180 gram audiophile quality vinyl are planned as following: Feb. 02 2010 – Communique; Mar. 02 2010 – Making Movies; Apr. 06 2010 – Love Over Gold.
Tim O’Brien in Get Lucky tour

Referring to the official Tim O’Brien website Tim will be playing in the Mark Knopfler band during his North American tour in April and May of 2010.
Tim O’Brien is a Grammy Award-winning American country and bluegrass musician. In addition to singing, he plays guitar, fiddle, mandolin, bouzouki and mandocello.
